Wow. It was really, really wet yesterday, but hundreds of people still came out to support Saratoga Bridges and run the 5K or 10K.. Luckily, the Great Pumpkin Challenge is a road race! How wet was it? Check out this guy’s shoe…
Volunteers got there incredibly early at about 5:30AM to get things going. And the only thing better than volunteerism is volunteerism in front of a crackling fire under a pavilion at Saratoga Spa State Park! I felt like I was at a wedding reception with all the tasty food that the race sponsors had provided! Bagels, homemade cakes, breads and cookies, Cabot cheese and more were available to help people get their strength up, or get it back after the race.
The rain actually stopped a little bit in the morning, but then remembered that the race was about to start, so it came back with a vengeance! By the time the runners were heading out to the finish line, lightning and thunder were in the sky. I’m glad no one dressed up as a lightning rod, or the Eiffel Tower.
The top finisher in the 5K came in at about 16:18, which is an awesome time, especially with waterlogged clothes! From then on the line was pretty busy with 5K and then 10K runners hitting the AREEP chip timing mat. The team from the Albany Running Exchange did another terrific job timing, and getting results posted, um, lightning fast.
So, the photos are up at the online store. Runners who preregistered with a valid email address should have been notified by now, but if you know someone who ran yesterday, please let them know, since not everyone used their email. The photos are basically untouched and will be processed and cropped as needed when you place your order! Let me know if there is anything special you want done with your photo in the comments section of your order! Cropping, B&W, brightness…that can all be taken care of if you think your photo needs it!
Thanks again to everyone who came out and ran. Oh yeah, I apparantly hit a volume benchmark with my photo lab and they have provided me with some pretty nice price breaks, so I have passed those on to you through lower pricing in the store! Don’t forget you can get TShirts and stuff with your mug on there too!
