This Saturday, I am going to be photographing the 9th Annual Great Pumpkin Challenge in Saratoga Spa State Park ! (It sounds even cooler if you say it the way the guy on Cash Cab says Red Light Challlleeeeeeeennnge.) This event will benefit Saratoga Bridges, which is a very neat organization.

It looks to be a really great day! The organizers are expecting over 800 runners and the course is absolutely beautiful. There is a 5K, a 10K and also a  kids fun run, which all meander over the  paved roads of Saratoga Spa State Park, one of the most beautiful parks in our area. The 5K course travels past the Gideon-Putnam hotel and around half of the golf course down Avenue of the Pines. The 10K does all that and follows the roads around past Peerless Pool and several of the Saratoga Spring water pavilions. The kids run is about a mile, and completely paved.

Much of the course is tree lined, so even if it’s a bit wet (c’mon…wet? this year?!) the course will still be a nice one. All pre-registered runners receive T-Shirts, and there are refreshments planned for after the race, along with overall and bracket awards! I’ve gotten the chance to speak with Heather, the race coordinator, and she is ‘on the ball’, so I know it will be a wonderful day for all involved. Photos will be posted by Tuesday, and once they are ready in the online store, I will notify all runners who provide their email address either at registration or by signing up here. You can also choose to receive a text update when the photos are posted. That’s over on the left there, too. Also, 20% of the profits from the sales of these photos will be donated to benefit the Saratoga Bridges programs! I’ll come up with some multiple photo discounts for you as well, so we can raise even more money and save you some money on your order!

So if you’re coming out for the day…get a great night’s sleep, drink plenty of water, and be ready to S-Mile when you break that tape!
